ELIGIBLE MOTHERS FOR MILK DONATION
- Donor blood tests for HIV, VDRL, Hepatitis B are negative within 6 months of current pregnancy
- Donor is willing to donate
- Has enough milk after feeding her baby satisfactorily
- Could be a mother whose baby is admitted and does not feed yet or takes minimal feeds
- Prenatal medications
- Human insulin
- Thyroid replacement hormones
- Nasal sprays
- Asthma inhalers
- Topical treatments
- Eye drops
- Progestin only / low-dose estrogen birth control pills
NOT ELIGIBLE MOTHERS FOR MILK DONATION
- She has received any blood transfusion / blood product, organ or tissue transplant in the last 12 months
- Has a permanent tattoo that was done within the last 12 months
- If her/sexual partner has HIV, HBV, HCV, or venereal diseases or either one has had high risk behavior for contracting them in the last 12 months
- If suffering from any acute infection
- Has cough for more than 2 weeks at the time of donation
- Has mastitis/fungal infection of nipple/areola, zoster of breast and thorax
- Suffers from active herpes simplex or has chicken pox infections
